My current strength is clothing. I have access to almost every brand here and I already stock most of the brands merchandise at a great price (I have physical outlets). 1. Amazon style where all the brands go together without any brand image and I market the site as a whole. 2. Gilt style where all the brands go together without any brand image and I market the site as a whole. 3. A mixture of a mother site outlet.com and sub websites of lets say outletskate.com outletmenfashion.com outletwomenfashion.com outletsurf.com, where I offer brand image on each website, news, a blog, media, etc. In this model, i can market to specific niches in facebook, google, etc, and then i try to do cross sales between websites, and I choose a name (example outlet) and several subnames (surf [outlet+surf=outletsurf]). Is the last option is more friendly to marketing? Is the last option (if well developed) going to create a regular visit from the customer because of the media, news, blog, etc? Is the last option going to create a deeper connection with the customer because the skater will feel he/she is buying from a skate shop? I want to keep adding different themes and products (deco, autoparts, etc etc) ultimatelly having a site where you can find everything (outlet.com) and all the different sub sites (outletdeco.com outletsurf.com etc) each of the sub sites with a different brand image, but all referencing the "mother site".
Hi,
I think you already know the answer to this as you spent the most time on the third option and you are correct. The Internet is awash with too much information for buyers, they have information overload. So you should concentrate on niche websites for 2 reasons. The first being ease of use for the customer, finding what they want to buy in seconds not hours, the second is SEO, your sites can interlink and if built right pass on link juice and customers by promoting your other sites on each other. You will rank much easier with a keyword domain combined with keyword content. I am doing exactly this at the moment within a number of niches globally and have a team of expert developers, content writers and SEO experts working under my direction and it is working really well. You will need to build a mini-net around your money sites and build links to them, just make sure there is no pattern, then build links from your money sites to each other from keywords not banners and you should rank really high on Google.
